Did you guess Cincinnati? You're right! We took off out of the thumb at midnight Friday night and arrived in.....
Cracker Barrel! Breakfast of course, in Louisville Kentucky! I took a photo of the front counter in the gift store because it had so much appeal to me as a possible miniature. I really liked how the counter had storage all around it displaying more sweets and well, sweets! We got to meet Bruce's family I'd never met before and Bruce and his boy got to see folks they hadn't seen in years. Very nice! I'm not posting their photo simply because I haven't asked them if I could. Next stop is...
"The Thinker"
Stunning. This first cast of the bronze statue by Rodin sits on the steps of Grawemeyer Hall at the University of Louisville. Bruce took us on quite a tour and included U of L, where he graduated. You can read more about The Thinker if you click on the link above.
A beautiful architectural stone piece over an entry door at U of L.
Next stop....
Bellarmine University
The boys climbing the stairs at Bellarmine University. I love this photo because my husband had to overcome tremendous odds to get his Master's Degree in Social Work. Being a single parent was only one of them, and would certainly be enough to curtail lots of us. To see the boy at 17 climbing the steps with dad, after so many obstacles and triumphs over circumstance can bring tears to my eyes. An amazing story those two have and I occasionally prod them to write about it.
A statue (notice I have no clue what it's name is)
The art professor lecturing on the detail in the horse (at least while I was standing there) I wanted to stay! So did my stepson because I think he has a thing for women with accents. When the ladies would talk he'd just stand and stare at them. Silly boy. Come on kid, let's go.
A cafe on Bardstown Rd.
Forgive my bad photo of this Halloween decorated tree, but it was a definite must post and share with you all. Love it! Again, no photos of family because I plum forgot to take any there. By that time I'd been sneezing all day (ever since we hit Ohio) and I was pretty wiped out.
A Wedding Party
Look at the bride and her wedding party! I love their idea of taking photos of the wedding party in military vehicles outside of the museum in Louisville Kentucky. I wonder what the wedding itself entailed? I do wonder. Such an original idea I think.
St. John the Baptist
Mind you most of my road trip photos are taken from the car, I'd have to say I got a pretty good shot at 65mph of this giant. It was so nice to see reference to God on our trip. Businesses with crosses and reminders of who's in charge, schools with crosses on them. A huge part of what attracts me to this side of the USA. I'm not in church on most any Sunday but God Bless America, and freedom to say so seems more prevalent on this side of the mountains. We like it:) There are many more photos that I could share but I'd never get dinner on if I stayed to list, and you'd be asleep by then anyway so I'll say goodnight now. Thanks for stopping by! Cathy
