The Fabulous Farmhouse, Where Is Everything?

       

A little background.

When The Fabulous Farmhouse store first opened in 2007, all of the miniatures I listed for sale were available to view and purchase even while out of stock. After a few months of me being crazy, I switched the listings and photos to still being viewable but not available for purchase until they were back in stock. Even with this setting in place, I still lost my ability to create anything new because I was constantly restocking with no time left for little else. Today, once miniatures are sold out the listing is not available to view. While I realize I may not catch the eye of a possible new miniatures customer, this setting allows me to continue to love doing what I do. 

     

Ever changing...

The Fabulous Farmhouse has certainly gone through changes in the past years, for example, I now work full time outside of my home and can create miniatures when I'm not at work. Today I love doing it because I have balance and time with the great people in my life. I also traded my dream of a fabulous farmhouse and live in a fabulous lakeside cottage. Seeing Lake Huron every day reminds me of The San Francisco Bay I grew up with. Should I change the name of the store? Nah.

 The best way to own some of my miniature creations is to keep checking back in the store, check my facebook page for new listings, or simply email me with what you're looking for so that I can get it restocked or created sooner. I do keep a running list of requests and I'll gladly add your request!   Waiting time varies, but I always strive for quality not quantity. Creating miniatures takes a bit of time, and thank you in advance for your patience with the process! 

     


What else?

I make miniatures because I love to. I'm not Walmart by any means, but I do offer exceptionally reasonable prices. I'm not making miniatures to get rich and famous, I do it because I love sharing with you, and I love the kind people and emails I receive from satisfied miniature enthusiasts and friends.

Children's Annuals, Chocolate, and Cake

Annuals are collections of original stories, poems, articles, and pictures assembled to entertain young readers. I've added a couple of non opening children's annuals to the store since your miniature dollhouse kids probably won't mind not being able to open the book. Printed in 1911 and 1929, these are great book covers. I couldn't resist adding a new black and white polka dot chocolate bar, as well as a new mini gift bag with a floral design. Happy Monday!

Halloween's Coming!!

Yea...good thing it's a bit of a ways away because I put the wrong label on the Halloween hanging candy I was going to list today. Dangit. I made the correction, they'll be in the store soon :) Today I am accepting my imperfections, and smiling.

I wanted to post and remind about the featured items in the store. This is where recently restocked items are posted in one place. Throwing Hands Way Way Up and Smiling

Ok so, news. What's new, everything. Where do I start? Things are good. Real Good. I have been thinking, discussing with some fabulous women, praying on what to do about my miniatures store. This quote I came across pretty much sums up the situation.

Miniatures have a new priority in my life. I still love them, and they still fascinate me, and they are still a passion, but there's more. I'm working outside of the house now, sometimes 8,10,12 hours. I have some incredible friends that I love spending time with, road trips are planned, family reunions, 5K races, and whatever else I can fit in! I intend to live my life as it's bursting at the seams with excitement and love. And romance ;) Oh yes.

 If you've never seen this video or heard this song, it's worth a look. It's what it's all about.

My world is incredibly different than it was when I opened the store in 2007, so it's only natural I have to make some adjustments. I've been putting it off as long as I could, but you'll soon see my inventory shrinking. This won't necessarily be a bad thing. The positive side of this is you won't see SOLD OUT throughout the store while shopping. When the item is gone, it's gone. Sure I might make it again, and surely many things I do keep as a regular item, but for a long while now I've missed out on the fun part of making new miniatures.

I would much rather be making the new cake and cupcakes, than responding to an email with regrets an item is no longer in stock. Lately I haven't even been able to respond it's so discouraging. So, time for change. Good things are coming, both in the store as well as my personal life. I need the freedom of expression back, and this is how I'll get it. I need to feel satisfied that I've done the very best I can for you. While you're shopping the store, you may still see some sold out items, I just haven't had the opportunity to turn off the already existing sold out stock. I'll get to it....so sick of saying that:) So....with all that said.....

I'm not accepting requests for out of stock items because I have no idea when they'll ever be back in stock. That's pretty honest. This change will benefit everyone shopping in my store, as well as everyone in my life, as well as me. I feel like a brand new person!

Well, I am a brand new person. I run every day, I eat healthy, and I laugh often with people I love.  I love you all, and am grateful for your support as not only customers, but as truly great friends, mentors, and people that care. All of yous:)

And as usual, lots to do here so I am wrapping this up and saying come shop the store, keep an eye out for recently restocked miniatures in the featured items area listed on the left, and new items too (when I get that chance!) Beautiful Sunday

My favorite new mini

Naomi is my granddaughter that I finally got to meet in June, and I'm in love.

A first fruits gift from the grapes that were planted on the farm.

Under a postcard sky, a happy tulip tree I planted a few weeks ago.

An incredible awesome day today that hasn't exactly gone as planned, but then who's in charge, right? I ended up having to move some trees today, spend time doing things I hadn't planned on, and now I'm a little behind schedule, but that's ok. I really wanted to post on the blog here and say hello! I did it, I posted, hello:) Weekends for me are mostly about getting everything finished I didn't have time for during the week. So far it works. 

Now a few words about the miniatures.....

Little by little the store is being restocked, I have snuck some new items in there too. I'm now offering miniature clear cellophane sweets bags for candy or cookies or other miniatures you might need to bag. Ribbons are sold separately in lots of assorted colors for whatever holiday or theme you may have or desire.

I have to say how much I'm enjoying Networked Blogs  The reason I say this is because I find it so easy to keep track of the latest blog entries from the blogs I follow. If you've added me as a Facebook Friend you can see on my profile all of the wonderful blogs I'm following. I am amazed at the talented artists that work in miniature! Amazing things. I more often than not find myself on a blog that has a catchy picture of another blog or link that I click on that leads to another blog that has a catchy picture or link and on and on. You too? I don't think I'm alone in that either lol, I know you blog surfers are out there clicking! When I tear myself away from these incredibly awesome blogs I am making valentine cupcakes, updating category photos in the store, and getting a miniature giveaway together to list soon. Valentines is just around the corner and I'm hoping to make it extra sweet! Below is a new category photo I added yesterday. Clicking on the photo will take you to the Mardi Gras section in our store. Another recent change to the store was switching the featured items slides with the new items. I thought it more interesting to look at since every time you switch a page a new within the past 30 days will appear now. Snowmen, Angels, and Santa Clauses

Snowmen

I made a snowman cupcake today so I feel like I accomplished something because it's new:) I love making new things and this one is especially fun to me because it is my first cupcake in a foil wrapper. The way this photo was taken you can't see it but you can in the next.

See the foil peeking out? Any more sideways and my gingerbread would look like a brick so that's as low as we get! I just absolutely love Christmas sweets! I do plan on continuing adding to the new Christmas items all year round as I hadn't anticipated how busy I'd be this year. This little mini tree is sitting in a pink striped tray I sell in the store. The reason I wanted to share this with you is because though I haven't changed all of the photos, all of the trays and displays with a hole to hold items like lollipops and cookies on a stick have been expanded by about 1/16 of an inch. That measurement isn't much but I also recently changed sticks I place my candy on and the new one's were too crowded to be happy. Their very comfy now. If you've purchased these from me in the past year and would like the size increased on yours please email me so I can keep record. Let's see Angels now.

Angels

 

The one wrapped up on the left is the angel, not the one on the right (wink wink) The one on the right is my son Brent, the proud daddy and US Marine (I'm so proud of him and grateful he's serving our country have to throw that in there when I can)

This angels name is Naomi Kay Madere and she was born 12/3 at 11:39am. Naomi weighed 9lbs & .28 oz, she's 22 inches long and healthy and happy. Look at her cheeks! Little sweetie muffin. I always name kidlets nicknames and I'll pick one for her when I know it:) Her daddy loves his first baby girl, and I love my first grand baby. We are going to spoil her!!! I've not seen her yet, they're in North Carolina and I hope to get there as soon as I can. Family issues here prevent me from going too far from home at this time, but I'll sneak away as soon as I possibly can and hold this girl:) Looking at this angel makes me want to collect babies like Angelina Jolie. How could you not? So sweet! Ok Santa Claus time...

Santa Clauses

We so hit the thrift store today! I loved everything I bought while browsing and discussing that show about hoarders. What? Most of it is LITTLE, and CHRISTMAS! And 25cents each! I love Christmas:) I found a mini dollhouse, and some funky retro santas and some old Hallmark ornaments oh and a Rudolph (but someone nabbed his nose so I'll have to fix that...) You know, just stuff... I think if you read this far I will just go ahead and add one more photo of the first snow we had this year oh and it sure would be nice if it were the last:)

Remember when I posted this last Spring? Nice and warm and sunny and beautiful? Now I think our fairy is on vacation in Florida because her front yard is a wreck and I didn't see any glitter anywhere. So I'm guessing I'm not the only one who doesn't care for snow.
