Mackintosh's Creamy Toffee
Maybe it is me that is weird, but believe me when I say I am inspired to make miniatures from the strangest things. Some not so much, but lots are. If you too are a creator then you know how it feels to have all of these random thoughts floating around in your brain of things that you need to make. Way back in 2007/2008 I worked for a non disclosed county program that had a large walk in food pantry for the young folks that were in the program. Often all of the branches of this program would have competitive food drives, whatever fun way to get food in for the people that needed it. One day it was my job to clean it and I'll tell you it was certainly more than a one day job but I was happy because organization is something I like to do. To get all of those top ramen noodles on one shelf then the canned vegetables on another, that would make me feel real nice! But first the task of sorting through this mess (big massive mess) of food. You couldn't even walk into the closet, just kind of stand at the doorway and grab. Ok to make a long story short I ended up throwing away maybe 3 push carts full and overflowing with expired food. People if you do ever donate food PLEASE check the label and don't give them the old can your kids won't ever eat and has sat there for 5 years on your shelf. Seems that was a lot of the donation supply. Don't get me wrong, there were lots of items in there good, and used often by youth that needed to eat. Anyway, the Mackintosh candy above was expired too but I took it home instead of throwing it away. Why? Well because it was so old and so different I said "this has to be made into a mini". Right? Who doesn't think like that.
Anyone care for some toffee that expired 10 years ago? Yum Yum!
Now that you've seen that date on that box you will believe me when I tell you that I also found macaroni in the box from 1988. I swear I did. Macaroni is not something I really want to make in mini, and that box went to my supervisors desk for a decoration, not sure if she still has it or not. She was new so she may have run out of there screaming by now:) So as you see my inspiration comes from lots of different places. Most all of my links on this blog are blogs that inspire creativity. I don't have so many miniature links as I do every day real life creativity, but Gaye does and if you want to see a gazillion and one miniature links Gaye has the mini extravaganza blog at My Small Obsession. Pack a lunch! Finally I got the toffee made today, only a year after the original idea, good thing mine doesn't ever expire!
Individually Wrapped Toffee
"Mom, mom, mom, can I have one? Mom." That is what I would sound like if this were on a checkout countertop. My new toffee nestled among chocolate bars wrapped in bright cheery colors and individually wrapped Easter chick hatching out of a pink egg cookie! Ohhhh so cute! Believe me I don't feel that was about everything I make, but this little display is a favorite! So I didn't box the Toffee in the original packaging, I gave it my own unique style, and I think it compliments it's sweet sugary friends. Fat Free Never Expires sweets for the miniature dollhouse collector YUM!
So cute Cathy! I just bought some! Thanks so much. Mini hugs!
